Michigan Insurance Continuing Education
MI Insurance Continuing Ed (CE) CoursesMichigan insurance continuing education required credit hours must be completed every two years per the requirements of the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services.
All licensed resident producers must complete 24 hours of CE every two years, including 3 hours of ethics courses to fulfill Michigan insurance license renewal requirements for Life and Health or for Property and Casualty.
Michigan Insurance CE Requirements- MI renewal requires 24 hours of CE (3 in ethics).
- Courses may not be repeated in any renewal period.
- Excess credit hours do not carry over towards the next licensing period requirement.

Limited life; turkey, crop, and hail; travel, accident, and baggage; title; and credit only producers are not required to complete CE for license renewal
Nonresident producers are not required to comply with Michigan insurance license renewal requirements.
Under federal law, even exempt individuals must take the required LTC course before they can begin selling long term care policies.
Michigan License Renewal Requirements
Time for your Michigan insurance license renewal? It's important to know:
- 24 hours of CE are required.
- Online, textbook, or classroom courses are acceptable.
- 3 of the 24 hours must be in ethics.
- You must pass your course completion examination with a 70% or better.
- Producers born in even years will renew in even years by the last day of their birth month, if you were born in an odd year, you will renew in odd years.
- Courses completion exams must be taken with a proctor and are not open book.
After you pass our course, we will send your completion information on to the Michigan Department of Insurance.
